One of the major benefits of choosing resin bond kits or resin bound kits is that they create driveways that are very easy to maintain. These low maintenance driveways look neat and tidy for years, but there are a few steps you can take to keep it looking at its best.

Taking Care of Resin Bond Kits

Surfaces made from resin bond kits can be taken care of in the following ways.

  • Start off by giving the entire surface a sweep over with a bristle broom (not metal) after it has been fully installed.
  • Sweep the surface regularly, approximately once every 2 to 4 months.
  • Use a stiff brush and a washing up liquid to remove stains such as oil or dirt. Leave the gentle detergent on for 10 minutes before removing with a pressure washer.
  • Persistent stains may require a professional pressure washer clean.
  • Pressure washers can be used to remove algae or moss, along with a mild herbicide if preferred.

Never use a pressure washer with hot water and don’t go closer than 30cm to the surface of the driveway. Additionally, use the pressure washer on a low setting to avoid damage.

Taking Care of Resin Bound Kits

If you have a resin bound driveway the care instructions are similar, but they do differ slightly. A resin bound kit won’t require a lot of extra care. Maintain the driveway with a regular gentle sweeping. The broom will remove any leaves and other debris that could cause moss to grow over time. Help to prevent weeds with a gentle herbicide, but test on a small area before applying all over the surface.

Weeds and dirt can also be removed with a cold pressure wash but take care not to use a lot of pressure and keep the pressure washer further than 20cm from the bound surface. Any spillages will need to be removed quickly to avoid any staining and to reduce any possibility of damage being caused to the surface of the drive.

Similar to resin bond kits, a gentle washing up liquid can be applied to oil spillages using a stiff brush. Leave the mixture on the area for about 10 minutes before removing with a pressure washer.
